Tutor LMS automatically generates a 16-character verification ID when a student completes a course and a certificate is issued. This ID is stored in the WordPress comments table with the type “course_completed.” The plugin searches this data — it doesn’t generate the IDs itself.

Yes. The public verification shortcode works for logged-out visitors — no account required. This is by design, so employers or institutions can verify a certificate by entering the ID. On success, the actual Tutor LMS certificate opens in a new tab.

The admin search returns the student’s full name, username, email, and user ID. It also shows the course title, course ID, course status, completion date and time, verification ID, and the instructor’s name. There are direct links to view the course page and the user’s WordPress profile.

It works with both Tutor LMS Free and Pro. The plugin reads certificate data from the same database table that both versions use. As long as your certificates have verification IDs stored in the comments table, the search will find them.

When you view any user’s profile in WordPress admin, a “Tutor LMS Certificates” section appears listing all their earned certificates. Each entry shows the verification ID, course name, completion date, and a “View Certificate” button that opens the actual certificate in a new tab. It also shows a total count of certificates earned.

The shortcode renders a self-contained verification form with its own styling. It works in any page builder that supports shortcodes including Elementor, Gutenberg, and classic editor. The form is responsive and adapts to your page width. For deeper customization, you can override the CSS in your theme.
