Edit Your Course

Open any course in Tutor’s course builder or the classic editor. Check “Enable course recommendation” and select the recommended next course from the dropdown.

Add a Coupon (Optional)

If WooCommerce is active, pick a coupon code from your existing coupons. The code and its description will appear in the popup to incentivize enrollment.

The popup triggers immediately when a student completes a course. The plugin hooks into Tutor’s “tutor_course_complete_after” action, sets a transient flag, and the JavaScript detects it and shows the popup via AJAX — no page refresh needed. The flag expires after 2 minutes as a safeguard.
Yes. Each course has its own recommendation setting. You can create a completely custom learning path: Course A recommends Course B, Course B recommends Course C, and so on. Each course can also have its own unique coupon code.
The coupon code is displayed in the popup for students to copy and use at checkout. It doesn’t auto-apply — the student needs to enter it during checkout. The popup shows the coupon code and its WooCommerce description (like “20% off”) so the student knows exactly what they’re getting.
Yes. The core recommendation feature works with just Tutor LMS. WooCommerce is only needed if you want to include coupon codes. Without WooCommerce, the popup shows the recommended course with its thumbnail, description, and “View Course” button — just without the coupon section.
In two places. If you use Tutor’s course builder, the settings appear directly in the builder interface. If you use the classic WordPress editor, a “Course Recommendation” meta box appears in the sidebar. Both let you enable/disable the recommendation, select the target course, and choose a coupon.
The plugin validates that the recommended course exists and has a “publish” status before showing the popup. If the course is in draft, trashed, or deleted, the popup simply won’t appear — no errors, no broken links. Students only see valid, available courses.
